Case-Making 101: Making a case for the Creator

Young people today often cite science as the main reason for their disbelief or disinterest in Christianity and the Bible. When pressed most will say that science has disproven the Bible and that evolution has been shown to be the mechanism for the existence of life. In public education this is taught as fact and any descent could be grounds for ridicule and sometimes even worse, dismissal.

Watch this documentary based on real life situations Christian college students have faced:

As a high school science teacher I am obviously not in the majority of those in my field when it comes to the belief in evolution as a means for the origin of life and the role that humans have in our world. Over the next few months we will look at various pieces of evidence for the existence of God that points in favor of creation for the origin and purpose of life versus that of evolution. We will also look at how much of this evidence matches up with the truth of the Biblical accounts found in Genesis.

There are several people I would like to hi-light before we begin this investigation starting with the one person who has had a profound influence on my studies as a Christian Apologist. Lee Strobel has been instrumental in my conversion from a skeptical science snob to a confident believer in the God of the Bible. Strobel, who was himself an obstinate and skeptical atheist, gave his life to Christ based on his journey through the evidence. His subsequent series of “Case for…” books can impact the most ardent skeptic as well as increase the confidence of a mature Christian.

Atheist-turned-Christian Lee Strobel is the former award-winning legal editor of The Chicago Tribune and best-selling author of more than twenty books. His classic, The Case for Christ, is a perennial favorite which details his conversion to Christianity. His recent release, The Case for Grace, won the 2016 Nonfiction Book of the Year from the EPCA. For the last twenty-five years his life’s work has been to share the evidence that supports the truth claims of Christianity and to equip believers to share their faith with the people they know and love.

Strobel is currently a professor of Christian Thought at Houston Baptist University and a teaching pastor at Woodlands Church in Texas. Listen to his presentation on how the Case for a Creator impacted his life:

Strobel’s book, “The Case For A Creator” will help you see the evidence that is out there in favor of a Creator. I am recommending this book for our apologetics’ class beginning in January 2017. This book along with a study in Genesis will be the topic of a six week program starting the week of January 9th.

Join us next week as we hi-light another great Case-Maker, J. Warner Wallace and his book “God’s Crime Scene” in preparation our new class.

You will not find this material in the public school curriculum even though it is based on solid evidence and grounded in research. It is ironic that following the evidence to where it leads stops at the door of our public schools as they will not let a “Divine footprint” in!  Join us as we examine evidence for Christianity and learn how to become a thoughtful defender and ambassador of your faith.

Case-Making 101: How does Archeology support the Bible?

How does Archeology relate to the Bible? Archeology is a relatively new science that did not take root until the nineteenth century A.D., prior to that time archeology was mainly done by grave robbers! I was amazed to learn how these relatively new discoveries from archeological digs in the Middle East are consistently supporting Biblical… Continue Reading

Case-Making 101: Is the Bible written by eyewitnesses of the events?

Eyewitness Accounts: Many people think the Bible is just like other “holy books” telling mythological stories or giving philosophical advice. Not true! Upon close examination one will find that the Bible with its 66 different books is written by at least 40 authors who were either eyewitnesses of the accounts or who record eyewitness testimony.… Continue Reading

Case-Making 101: How does the Bible compare to other ancient documents?

Textual Criticism: Last week we looked at the evidence for the reliability of the Bible with the early Church’s canonization process that demonstrates we can be certain that we have the right books, contrary to cultural spin. We also looked at many reasons Christians reject the Apocrypha and Gnostic books with an emphasis on the… Continue Reading
